Director of Safety and Security John Blaisdell disclosed various criminal incidents and behavioral violations in a recent interview.

A student was caught enacting criminal mischief in Ward Hall on February 17 after a video was uploaded to social media of them smashing the sconces of the building’s lights over their head.

On February 20, an incident of criminal mischief took place in the rotunda of the Murray Student Center. It was found that a student had vandalized various plaques in the hallway adjacent to the Admissions office. The case is now closed.

The next day, numerous acts of forgery were reported to Marist Security by Darby’s, as they confiscated three fake IDs belonging to Marist students. This case has been referred to the Conduct Office.

Blaisdell discussed two separate drug violations in Champagnat Hall and Foy, occurring on February 21 and 22, respectively. In both instances, fire alarms had gone off in the residence buildings; security then found marijuana paraphernalia in the rooms which triggered the alarms. Both drug violations have been referred to the Conduct Office.

An incident of social media harassment was reported on February 22. The severity and persistence of this harassment resulted in not only a Conduct Office referral but also an official police report.
