The Ultimate Holiday Playlist

Holiday playlist via Mackenzie O'Rourke '24

As someone who starts celebrating Christmas on Nov. 1st, it is safe to say I am a self-proclaimed holiday music connoisseur. Whether it’s a Christmas party, a night in with friends, or a drive back home for winter break, curating the perfect holiday playlist is essential to get in the spirit. Here are some of my 2023 Christmas playlist essentials.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You (Super festive!)” - Justin Bieber & Mariah Carey

This is the first track I press play on during the holiday season. Bieber’s feature elevates this iconic song. It is a must-listen for anyone looking for a fresh yet equally merry alternative to the original. It is the version I prefer!

“Christmas Eve” - Justin Bieber

Bieber’s 2011 Christmas album, “Under the Mistletoe”, is my favorite holiday album; it is impossible not to include each track. However, this song is a special one. It is a mellow, relaxing, nostalgia-filled tune that pairs great with hot cocoa by the fire on a cold December night.

“Christmas Every Day” - David Archuleta

There is no better song to dance to around Christmastime than this upbeat anthem from Archuleta. Any seasonal blues is inevitably cured with this track as it is a reminder of how exciting the holiday season is. Queue this on a long winter’s drive with your best friends.

“Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” - Michael Bublé

Bublé is Christmas personified, and I am a firm believer in this being the best cover of this lovable song. His voice should soundtrack every holiday season, and this track is one of the best of his 2011 holiday project, “Christmas”.

“Last Christmas” - Wham!

Out of the Christmas classics, this is undoubtedly my favorite. This song is comforting and catchy, one that will get everyone at a function singing. It is a great option for karaoke and a must-have on aux at any Christmas party.

“is it new years yet?” - Sabrina Carpenter

I love to find new Christmas music each year, and Carpenter’s recently released holiday EP, fruitcake, has delivered some fun tunes for 2023’s end. The pop star and current Taylor Swift Eras Tour opener is known for her carefree wit and snappy melodies, and this song is just that. This is a song for anyone heavily anticipating the new year but still wants something to dance to around the holidays.
