Security’s Hands Full Before Halloween
With Halloween fast approaching, the Marist College Office of Safety and Security has had its hands full with several incidents.
On Oct. 14 at 2:53 p.m., Marist Campus Safety responded to a report from a student about a suspicious person trying to enter Sheahan Hall. Campus Safety responded by thoroughly searching the area, but did not find anyone fitting the description provided. An investigation identified the individual, and a report was filed with the Town of Poughkeepsie police department.
Later that night at 9:31 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a report from a student about a suspicious person at the Upper Fulton courtyard. After a long search of the area, they did not find any suspicious individuals. Additional patrols of the area were conducted throughout the night.
On Oct. 16 at 2:26 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a student report of an unlocked motorized scooter stolen at Steel Plant. Marist Campus Safety responded and assisted the student in filing a formal police report with the Town of Poughkeepsie police department.
That same night at 10:34 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a report from a student at Upper West Cedar who heard a suspicious person yelling. Marist Campus Safety responded and searched the area, but did not find any indication of someone outside the residence. The area was then monitored throughout the night.
On Oct. 18 at 12:11 a.m., Campus Safety received a report from a student at Foy Townhouses who heard a suspicious noise outside the student residence. Campus Safety responded and examined the premises, but did not find any indication of someone outside the residence. Additional patrols of the area took place until the morning.
Hours later at 11:41 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a student report of a handbag found in the Donnelly Hall lounge. Upon searching the inventory of the found property to determine the rightful owner, they found a forged driver’s license.
