Marist Receives Institutional Re-Accreditation
Marist College officially received institutional re-accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education on July 13, 2023. After a two-year self-study process, the global institutional accreditor visited the Poughkeepsie campus in the spring.
Marist was re-accredited with no recommended changes to the institution, ultimately encouraging the strength and innovation already present on campus. Re-accreditation is essential to a university not only because it ensures high teaching standards but it also is a requirement for students to apply for and to receive financial aid. The re-accreditation process “ensures institutional accountability, self-appraisal, improvement, and innovation through peer review and the rigorous application of standards within the context of institutional mission,” according to the Middle States.
The committee touted Marist’s academic, international, and extracurricular programs, along with the increased focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Marist will apply for re-accreditation again in 2030.
