Continuing the trend previously reported, there is still mischief in Marian, a number of violations were reported during spring break room checks, and students set off fireworks on campus.

On March 2, a bicycle was stolen from outside of Donnelly after being left unlocked by a student. Cameras showed another student taking the bicycle; the perpetrator was caught and sent to Conduct and the bicycle was retrieved.

Continuing the trend previously reported, there is still mischief in Marian. With three more instances of criminal mischief, “students are tearing up Marian Hall,” said Director of Safety and Security John Blaisdell. In two incidents on March 5, a fire extinguisher and emergency light were torn off the walls on the second floor men’s side. On March 7, bathroom sinks were turned 180 degrees in the first floor men’s bathroom, resulting in water everywhere.

There was a hit-and-run incident in the Hoop Lot on March 8. A student parked in a lined spot at 9pm and returned to find a note accusing them of hitting the car next to them with a door, instead, the student reported finding damage to their vehicle’s bumper.

A number of violations were reported during spring break with room checks being conducted. On March 11, there was a hole in the wall discovered in Sheahan Hall and three separate drug violations relating to marajuana or paraphernalia each reported in a different residence hall: Lavelle, Ward, and Midrise. A thermostat was damaged and a vent was removed in a Foy townhouse, this was reported on March 12. To conclude the violations during room checks, a damaged door was reported in McCormick on March 13.

The first weekend back after break saw students attempting to celebrate. On March 25, students set off fireworks in Foy and Lower West Cedar, both groups of students were referred to conduct. After the fire alarm was set off in Midrise, alcohol was found on March 27, which resulted in a referral to conduct. Clothes were stolen on March 28 from the McCormick Hall laundry room. That investigation is still ongoing. On March 31, a fake identification was found in Donnelly and the student received a judicial referral.

As we are halfway through the semester, students are reminded that any suspicious behavior should be reported immediately to Marist Security at 845-471-1822.
