The Women’s Network Launches a Chapter at Marist
The Women’s Network (TWN) recently announced that they would launch a chapter on Marist’s campus. TWN is the largest collegiate women’s network organization in the nation whose goal is to connect women to each other and to leaders across many industries through networking.
“Networking opens doors and connects fellow ambitious women on campus and around the nation to expand their network and access to opportunity,” Intern Lara Janosz of The Women's Network said. “A byproduct of membership in our organization is that every individual embraces, celebrates and even redefines their version of ambition.”
The Women’s Network began in 2017 by Jamie Vinick, then a sophomore at Syracuse University. TWN offers a platform for collegiate women to connect with each other and to senior female executives across various industries where they can build their professional development skills. In June of 2021, TWN grew from 42 chapters to 142 chapters which they established nationally and internationally.
“The Women’s Network has continued its meteoric growth and we are thrilled to bring our organization to an additional 100 college campuses across the nation and in Canada,” TWN founder & President Jamie Vinick said. “I am truly proud of all that we have achieved over the last year, as we continue our mission to develop women’s leadership and professional skills and revolutionize networking at the collegiate level.
The expansion of TWN comes after the organization received requests from women in colleges and universities across the country looking to start a chapter on their campus. After receiving requests from women at Marist, TWN decided that they wanted to start a chapter on campus.
“The Women's Network received hundreds of inquiries from collegiate women across the nation, including women at Marist,” Janosz said. “We thoughtfully curated a list of new chapter launches and felt there was a tremendous need for TWN on campus.”
Currently, TWN has a community of over 26,000 members who are looking to connect with females in the workforce and leadership positions. The organization hosts speaker meetings, career development seminars, LinkedIn and resume workshops, virtual and in-person networking trips and recently launched a podcast called “Redefining.”
“We are building a community of high-achieving, ambitious women, while at the same time providing the support, networking know-how and leadership opportunities that will prepare women to enter the workforce with both confidence and connections,” Vinick said.
Marist women can become members of the TWN chapter by filling out a membership form and can also apply separately for leadership positions on campus. The Marist women who join the chapter will be able to attend chapter and national events. The events will typically feature women in the workforce as keynote speakers and mentors to help students network and grow as individuals. Unlike many other national organizations and chapters, TWN is currently free for all undergraduate members.
“We are thrilled to welcome Marist women into our network,” Janosz said. “So much good has come out of our network: people have landed internships and jobs, found mentors and mentees, changed their majors, gained more confidence, developed leadership skills, found new social circles and friends and more. There is a lot to look forward to with this new and exciting launch on campus.”
