Upcoming Weekend Wellness 5K
On Sunday, Nov. 14, at 9:30 a.m., a 5K will take place on the Champagnat and Marian Greens. Students can take part by running or walking across campus and participate in the other Weekend Wellness events.
Anna Hagenbuch '23, the SGA Vice President of the Student Well-Being Board, described the weekend as an event meant "to increase student awareness of resources on & off campus available for mental, physical and social well-being."
Hagenbuch also said, "The Weekend Wellness Event will showcase interactive resources from Health Services, Counseling Services and Title IX Office & off-campus resources. These off-campus resources include multiple departments under the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health."
Ducky Nowak '25 said that it would be a great idea to have more availability with counselors at an event like this from a student perspective.
The Student Well-Being Board has also been in charge of other pop-up events in the Champagnat Breezeway and a visibility table in front of the Student Government Association (SGA) office. Hagenbuch stated that the board's plans for the future are increasing visibility for the Title IX office and creating nutrition resources for students.
"Our goals are to increase well-roundedness in students by promoting all aspects of health," said Hagenbuch. "This includes mental, physical and social well-being, which requires the collaboration of many departments at Marist and beyond."
Hagenbuch also said to follow their Instagram, @maristwellness, for more updates. Additionally, you can go to their page to sign up for the 5k.
Student Body President, Tenzin Tsundu '22, said he is excited for the event because it will "help Marist students interact and learn about on-campus and local resources."
"It is one of the ways our team is attempting to create a culture of well-being on campus," said Tsundu.
