Marist Delays Room Selection Process for Fall Housing
Marist students received an email Thursday afternoon delaying the room selection process for fall housing. Due to COVID-19, many colleges are uncertain about the upcoming fall semester and living situation if students return to campus in August.
“We have decided to postpone the room selection process at this time and will resume later in the summer,'' the email from the Housing Office said. “Moving this process will ensure that we will have more accurate information about students living on-campus, travelling abroad, or moving off-campus. We will continue to allow students to amend their groups during this time.”
The email did reassure students that the college plans and hopes to have students back on campus for the fall semester. Like many colleges, Marist is working with health professionals as well as state and local government to determine the path forward.
“Over the past several months, we have put together a planning group which includes Marist’s own medical staff and senior leaders to help guide our efforts with the health and safety of our community at the forefront,” the Housing Office shared. “As we continue to plan for the Fall semester and beyond, our hope is that you will all be able to return to campus for on-campus living, learning, and other activities.”
The college’s leaders continue to meet daily and use developing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to prepare for the future.
“We ask for your patience as we continue to prepare for the Fall. All students can expect to receive updates throughout the summer about our plans as they are made. Please feel free to email housing@marist.edu at any point during the summer with any questions you may have, and a member of our Housing Office team will respond promptly.”
