Campus Pause Extended to Wednesday Morning
Marist’s second campus-wide pause, announced on Thursday, Nov. 5, was extended until Wednesday morning, Nov. 11. Classes will continue online through Tuesday evening. Though in-person activities were set to resume Monday morning, Nov. 9, administrators extended the pause to “continue testing the student populations identified by our medical team,” according to an email from the college administration.
As of Nov. 8, there were 76 active cases, with 52 in isolation at home or off campus and 24 in isolation housing on campus. The announcement included that surveillance testing would continue through the pause and reiterated the college’s zero tolerance policy for COVID-19 guideline violations.
“This is to prioritize the safety of the vast majority of students who have abided by the rules this semester,” the Vice Presidents’ email said.
During the pause, increased protocols and restrictions will be in effect. Students must limit interactions to their “pod” and remain in their own room or apartment. Meal plans will continue as grab-and-go only. Only travel directed by Marist health professionals and staff is permitted, and only approved visitors can enter campus.
“Thank you for all you are doing to help ‘protect the pack,’” the announcement concluded.
