CAMPUS…

Marist College welcomed back alumni over last weekend, bringing together former classmates and friends to a familiar place. Students and alumni were able to watch Marist Football matchup against Cornell, where the Red Foxes didn’t come out on top, unfortunately.

In accordance with homecoming weekend, Marist released the Alumni Association Award recipients for 2019. This award recognizes top alum who have excelled in professional development. The three recipients represent the class of ‘69 and ‘14.

On Sep 9, Marist was recognized as a top ten Best Regional Universities-North by U.S. News. The college earned this award due to the high level of innovation around campus, including the Florence and Manhattan campus.

On Sep 13, the Marist fashion magazine, FM / AM, was awarded a gold medal by Columbia Scholastic Press. Scoring out of 1000 points, FM / AM was awarded 984 points according to a Marist news release.

WORLD…

Protests continue across the world, issues range from government to climate change.

Hong Kong is continuing to see unrest, prolonging demonstrations that began months ago. Egypt erupted in protests Sep 20, all stemming in defiance of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Globally demonstrations flared up over the weekend, all concerning one thing. Young people took to the streets of over a thousand cities and towns worldwide to demand action against climate negligence. These protests involved millions of a primarily younger audience demanding action to save the planet, many brandishing the line, “You had a future, and so should we.”
