‘Cue & Brew Welcomes Marist Community

‘Cue & Brew, a traditional Texas-style barbecue restaurant, opened its doors in Poughkeepsie just shy of three months ago.

It all started with two Hudson Valley owners, Steve and Amber Klein. The pair had been investors in another restaurant and decided to open one of their own. With their love and passion for barbecue, ‘Cue & Brew was born.

When deciding on a location, the owners looked at various sites in the Poughkeepsie area. After careful consideration, the Hudson Heritage Plaza was chosen due to the lack of BBQ options in the surrounding area and the presence of Marist College right across the street.

“‘Cue & Brew hopes to serve the community for a long time,” said General Manager Rob Accordino. “We would love to expand if possible since this is the kind of restaurant model that could work in different neighborhoods.”

On top of the homemade sides, the restaurant’s barbecue meats are slow-smoked in an in-house smoker. ‘Cue and Brew also features a full-service bar with freshly squeezed juices and purees, along with an extensive cocktail menu that features one of the best bourbon and whisky collections in the area.

In addition, ‘Cue & Brew boasts drafts from breweries all over New York State, alongside most of their well-known liquors sourced from local distilleries.

“It has a good atmosphere and a lot of potential,” said Collin Ruggeberg ’24.

Phyia Walker ’24, who works at the restaurant, describes ‘Cue & Brew as a place that has welcomed her with open arms. “Everyone at ‘Cue & Brew is excited to be the new hangout and dinner spot for both Marist students and Poughkeepsie locals,” said Walker.

‘Cue & Brew makes it a point to cater to Marist students with the different specials on the table. Menu items are priced with young adults living on a tight budget in mind.

Besides its regular offerings, the barbecue joint also holds special events throughout the week, from Trivia on Tuesday to Thursday night line dancing and Late-Night Happy Hour offered Thursday through Saturday. Marist night is every Friday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., with drink specials and a DJ.

The restaurant plans to host a grand opening party in the coming months. But until then and beyond, ‘Cue & Brew is the place to be for good food, good times and good people.

“I love that we are improving on everything every day, and we strive to be as good and consistent as can be,” Accordino said. “We are getting together to put our best foot forward and put out the best quality fresh product for the community.”
