Surviving Finals: The Best Study Spots on Campus
As the weather warms and finals season approaches, students are looking to escape their cramped dorm rooms to find the perfect place to study. The good thing is, the Marist College campus has dozens of spots that are great for a cram session. Here are the ideal areas to help you blast through finals week:
Bottom Floor of the Library
An underrated study spot, the bottom floor of the library is great for any last-minute cramming. It’s quieter and emptier than the rest of the library, as you can only socialize with friends at a barely audible level. Distractions are minimal, so it is best if you are at the library to actually do work. It may not be as exciting as the upper levels of the building, but if you seriously need to finish a paper, this is the spot for you.
Greystone Patio
This shady spot offers a bit of seclusion from the rest of campus. Surrounded by bright pink flower bushes and vine-filled walls, Greystone’s patio gives students a comfortable, nature-filled study experience. Make sure to bring snacks because the campus squirrels love to visit this courtyard.
Hancock Brew Lounge
If you enjoy the ambience of working at a coffee shop, you should study in the Hancock Brew lounge area. It definitely gives off the look and smell of a coffee shop, and the warm lighting helps you relax while you finish your homework. Of course, if you crave a study snack, the cafe is right there for a pick-me-up or caffeine boost.
River Docks
It may not be the comfiest of study spots, but the first dock down by the water certainly has a scenic view. Studying right on the river is calming, and the sounds of the water create the perfect white noise. Be sure to swap out your laptop for a book or textbook to avoid any sun glare.
Tennis Court Benches
The benches by the tennis courts are a great option for outdoor studying; they offer a nice balance between getting fresh air, and being comfortable while studying. The structure above the benches is filled with newly blossomed flowers and lots of chirping birds to provide a peaceful study session. The benches can fit several people so bring your friends to study with you.
