Hudson Valley Appears on Forbes’ 25 Best US 2020 Destinations List
The Hudson Valley was recently recognized by Forbes as being one of the 25 best places in the United States to visit in 2020. According to the article, the recommendation to visit the region was made by travel and food writer Devorah Lev-Tov. Lev-Tov’s work has previously appeared in distinguished publications including Condé Nast Traveler, the New York Times, and Travel + Leisure. The article, written by Laura Begley Bloom, provides a variety of reasons a trip to the region is enjoyable, describing the Hudson Valley as being “comprised of dozens of small, impossibly charming towns east of the Hudson River. And while the air is fresher and things do move slower in the mountains, that doesn’t mean nothing happens up here ー in fact, quite the opposite is true.”
Hudson Valley locals — and Marist students — have enjoyed what the region offers for years. Stephanie Milazzo ‘20 grew up in Marlboro, NY, located just across the Mid-Hudson Bridge from Marist College, and understands the appeal of the area. “The Hudson Valley is often forgotten when people think of New York as just New York City. It offers something for any person who visits, which makes it a must-see,” Milazzo said.
Julie Iannuzzi, a Hudson Valley resident originally from Fort Myers, Florida, understands what makes the region so special. “In addition to being close to the best city in the world, the Hudson Valley has an overwhelming amount of things to do, from hiking the beautiful mountains to exploring the Hudson Valley landmarks like Mohonk to art museums and cultural and musical experiences like Shakespeare in the Park,” she said. Her daughter, Emily Iannuzzi ‘20, agrees.
“The Hudson Valley is packed with amazing places and views and activities for those visiting on the weekends. As long as you know what you want to do and where you want to go, this area is a wonderful place to visit,” Iannuzzi said.
With an array of activities to offer visitors and charming towns galore, it’s obvious why the Hudson Valley made Forbes’ list. “The Hudson Valley is so special because you can do so many different things - you can get a workout in on the Walkway Over the Hudson, eat your way throughout the Valley, or simply wander through towns like Rhinebeck for cute shopping and sightseeing. A day spent in the Hudson Valley is never boring,” Milazzo said.
