2023 is upon us, and with a new year comes new music. Thankfully, the releases of the most anticipated albums of 2023 are finally approaching.

Between “Midnights" by Taylor Swift, “Renaissance” by Beyonce, “Gemini Rights" by Steve Lacy and "Harry's House” by Harry Styles, the albums of 2022 will be difficult to beat. But after only one month into 2023, albums from Sam Smith, Elle King and Mac DeMarco were already released, with many more to come.

Indie rock singer Lana Del Rey is expected to release her new album, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” on March 24. After releasing two albums in 2021, fans are eager to hear what else Rey has up her sleeve. So far, the singer has released the album's tracklist containing 16 songs featuring artists Jon Batiste, Father John Misty and more.

After a five-year gap, Paramore is coming back with their new album, “This Is Why,” which is set to release on Feb. 10. In a press release, lead vocalist Hayley Williams said, "It summarizes the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last three or four years.” The band has released multiple singles since the announcement of the new album, which has kept fans on their toes with anticipation.

Paramore fan Erin-Leigh Hoffman ‘24 said, “I’ve been listening to Paramore for around six years now and patiently waiting for this new album. After listening to the singles that they have released, it makes me even more excited. I especially love the new material since it reflects what society we are living in right now that lyrically and sonically feels right. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the album since these are some solid singles to give listeners an idea of what we can expect from Paramore.”

Just one week after Paramore’s release of “This Is Why,” singer-songwriter Pink's new album “Trustfall” is expected to be released on Feb. 17. On Good Morning America Pink said, “My album is a piece of me, and I think that I am an example of how you can live authentically and fearlessly, in ways.” Pink is also expected to go on tour in July.

Although we are not expecting an album from Rihanna, the Grammy-winning singer is returning to her music career, starting with a performance at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show. Rihanna’s album from 2016, “Anti,” is the latest album from the singer, but recently Rihanna released the single, “Lift Me Up", from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack. In an interview with The Associated Press, the singer said, “Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans?"

Heavy metal band Metallica is returning from a six-year hiatus with their 12th studio album, “72 Seasons.” The album will be released on April 14, quickly followed by the band's M72 Tour starting on April 27. Additionally, we can expect albums from Gorillaz on Feb. 23, Miley Cyrus on March 10 and Blink 182 during the summer.
